CDTI rates Orizon's R&D as highly innovative and its technology as distinctive

The Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation agency analysed the R&D behind the second generation of BOA and highlights what sets it apart.

Madrid, 5 April 2023 – The Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), part of Spain's Ministry of Science and Innovation, has rated as highly innovative the R&D that Spanish company Orizon applied to the second generation of its technology, BOA, which improves the performance of large companies' technology infrastructure. As the agency's report points out, the different aspects that come together in it "make it a completely new tool, distinct from existing products".

CDTI carried out the technology assessment of Orizon's solution after the company presented three proofs of concept on applying BOA to different critical, technology-intensive areas, such as central systems (mainframe) and online services, from the twofold perspective of cost and quality of service.

After its analysis, CDTI identified four differentiating innovations in Orizon's technology: its capacity to load massive amounts of data and information into the tool, its analysis of that data, its machine learning models and its unsupervised learning (deep learning). On data loading, CDTI highlights its massive scale, even with heterogeneous data in unstructured formats. On data analysis, CDTI draws attention to its ability to derive business patterns and correct operational errors (Business Intelligence), and to produce analytical studies that support future business decisions based on predictive models.

Regarding the machine learning models in Orizon's solution, CDTI's report highlights the use of Artificial Intelligence to improve the operation of systems (AIOps), which makes it possible not only to make statistical predictions from the information loaded, "but also to prepare, train, evaluate and deploy models capable of correcting errors by themselves, and even of automatically rewriting software that performs poorly".

According to CDTI's report, BOA's algorithms can evolve automatically, generate new patterns by evaluating new information and recalibrate the models practically in real time. Finally, regarding its use of deep learning, CDTI highlights its ability to access massive labelled data sets easily, to increase the system's processing power and to access models previously trained by experts.

According to Ángel Pineda, CEO of Orizon, "this CDTI report is a great endorsement, not only of our software efficiency standard, but also of our approach and our ability to address the performance of a technology infrastructure in a way that, beyond detecting errors or inefficiencies, provides the solutions to eliminate them and recommendations to achieve full efficiency".

With the new generation of its BOA technology, Orizon tackles the problem at the heart of developing and optimising large computer systems: identifying every inefficiency in code and processes, and proposing solutions to improve performance in a context as complex as today's. To do this, the company uses technologies such as applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) through machine learning (ML). The application of business intelligence (BI) and business analytics (BA) through big data analysis also makes the solution clearly different in the market. This second generation of BOA presents all this information in a dashboard with a clear business view that takes into account cost, service availability and response times.

In the three proofs of concept presented to CDTI, the analysis measured BOA's impact on different variables, such as improvements in response times, use of resources and cost savings, in a central system environment (the cost of mainframe resources), in batch processes (continuous, simultaneous processing) and in the provision of online services. In all three cases, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were obtained, taking into account all the variables and determining factors in each.

With this second generation of its solution, Orizon, which until now focused on central systems (mainframe), brings this capability to the cloud, an environment of enormous complexity. Orizon has announced that the solution will be available in the third quarter of 2023. The company will invest a total of €1.8 million in its development, and is also considering making the solution available on the main hyperscalers (AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure), depending on the business model.

About Orizon

Orizon provides technology performance solutions that bring value to IBEX 35 companies and large companies leading their sectors, identifying and solving software problems to ensure maximum levels of availability, performance and efficiency. The cost savings and faster applications are significant for the organisations Orizon works with, making it a key ally of senior management. A pioneer in applying artificial intelligence to improve business in IT production environments (AIOps), Orizon makes it possible to monitor, detect and resolve inefficiencies in 100% of technology elements. Its R&D&I and its technology, unique in the market, are recognised by official Spanish institutions and by the European Commission.
